Week One of Retirement
We began our first official week of retirement with a nasty argument. Not a great start for the rest of our lives, but hopefully something that we can learn from and become better at avoiding. We both realize that sometimes these arguments happen because of pride which we are all encouraged to overcome. It will become imperative to see the pride creeping forward and push it back before it smashes to the forefront. We did get in a short walk around the north block around our home.
On our second day we attending our 1st class for diabetic education. Having just recently been diagnosed as having diabetes, it was a great to attend this class together to learn some of the things to watch out for and how to control my blood sugar levels. We also got in a half hour walk around the Marysville Middle School track.
Our third day into retirement might have been the most fun. Wayne became an official volunteer at the Seattle Washington Temple on the Wednesday 1st shift. He jumped between helping down in the baptistry and up at the veil. He LOVED it! Only down point was driving into the driveway later that day and discovering he couldn't find his temple recommend. We called the temple on Friday morning to find that it had been found and turned in at the front desk. All we have to do is get it next Wednesday when we return to the temple.
Thursday, is when we finally started a pattern of scripture study and prayer for this new stage. I have been wanting to listen to the April Conference talks again, so our scripture study is studying the modern day prophets and apostles. We got in a morning walk at the Tulalip church building for another half hour.
As you can see we are slowly implementing various ideas and patterns that we know will enhance our lives and home. We invite you to follow our experiences as we move forward into this new stage of life. It won't be a day to day narrative, but normally an account of new experiences and reflections of how we see the Lord's hand in our lives.
